I'm interested in starting a Minecraft clan, mainly for Australians (although really anybody is welcome).

If people are interested I recommend adding me on Skype (silentsamurai1000), I have a server host ready, but would want to know which FTB server to host.

TeamSpeak3 server online - silentcraft.us

Thanks, clan just sounded... odd. And what would this group do, just hang out on a server? If so, I'm in Australia, and I'd love to join.[DOUBLEPOST=1360932418][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh also, I think Direwolf20 pack would be nice.

I'm hoping to get together a mature group of people and have a close community on the server, not forced to all live together, but everybody knows everybody. I was also thinking a voice server, most likely TeamSpeak3, but again, I'd take a vote.

The server would be virtually unrestricted (as I am hoping to be in a position where I can trust everybody)

Since we would have a number of us working together, we might be able to tackle GTech, but personally I don't use it so its the only mod I'm not 100% familiar with (also only 60% familiar with Thaumcraft)

Clan? Are you sure that's the right word for it?

Clan:

Noun
A group of close-knit and interrelated families (esp. associated with families in the Scottish Highlands).
A family, esp. a large one: "the Kennedy clan".

Feel free to also review the Wikipedia article on the subject: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clan_(computer_gaming)

But, in short, yes: The word "clan" is one of the MANY words you can use to define a group of people.

Just make sure to take hourly (or at the worst, daily) backups, just in case. This is very important, even when dealing with people that you truly believe you can trust.

I've found that GregTech is not too bad at all after you get a few quarries going, and have a good sorting system in place, as well as some constant resource processing to keep your supplies of materials high.

GregTech must surely be difficult if you don't start tearing apart 64x64 holes in the world, as there are a lot of extremely resource-intensive aspects to the technology tree.

Good luck!

For backups I have McMyAdmin which is very handy for automated tasks, the only problem might be the server hard drive, I think its only 50GB

World holes are simply fixed by a beautiful mod called Mystcraft :)

A few things:
1. Mystcraft isn't in MindCrack unless you could get everyone to add it in
2. MindCrack would technically be better since if you are going to upgrade the pack to the Ultimate Pack then the places that you have already loaded will have the GregTech Ores
3. Lastly, I would join however I have committed to another server. Sorry bout that, this seems great!

Well we could always use a custom pack, base off MindCrack for example and add stuff in :) too bad you cant join

I'm hoping to get a few more people interested, either way, I'm going to start the server up tomorrow, as I'm off to work now

West Oz = Best Oz :D

Mystcraft would def. get around the problem of gigantic holes in the earth, and as for GT... I've always been a fan of IC2 and when I decided to tinker with GT a month ago, at first I was all "HOLY CRAP"... but I've gotten used to it now. The challenge to normal IC2 is nice, as vanilla IC2 isn't that hard to set up (IMO) once you know what you're doing.

Expression of Interest: Mindcrack + Mystcraft? :)

I'm Australian, I'd love to join. I'm not sure how much time I'll have to play though.

My vote would be for DW20 pack and a Teamspeak 3 server.

I'd throw my vote in for the mindcrack pack with added Mystcraft. GT is a must have mod for a server IMO, or else everyone is running round in quantum armor within a few days

Yeah, Mindcrack+ would be nice. Maybe even add logistics pipes and Xeno's reliquary?

This is really solid interest I'm seeing. So far the general consensus I'm getting is a custom pack, gtech and myst included.

I would not mind having a custom pack at all, as it would give me more control on updates and mods.

When I finish work in a few hours I'll get started setting up the server, I'll post & pm the team speak info into this thread, and as in the OP feel free to add me on Skype

If we're going to have a lot of extra mods , I'd prefer to use Multimc so that I can keep my Mindcrack version working properly.

I would hope that this is going to be whitelisted, and just keep it to Australians if possible. That way we're all on at around the same time.

yeah I was planning on using MultiMC

Yes, whitelist sounds quite good, I'll set up the server tonight
