So I've read a little bit about it, and messed with the config, but I'm still getting tons of ocean. Also, I'm getting tons of a single biome. I'm talking thousands of chunks of shrubland all at once. I have the biome size thing set at 4, so that shouldn't be it. A third thing is that I'm not finding any deserts. I've searched for maybe half an hour or more with the modular power suit so I zoom all over the place, and I'm not finding deserts, oasises, lush deserts, dunes.... etc. I've gone from the north to the south (ice on both sides) and everywhere inbetween.
If anyone can help me with understanding these things and how to fix them, I'd really appreciate it, thanks.

From the sounds of it you are looking for biomes from Biomes O' Plenty. For those biomes to spawn in a ATG world you're going to need to enable them to spawn in a default world. To do this open up the BOP config folder and open the terraingen config file. Under biome settings you should see:"Add Biomes To Default World"=false". Change the false to true and BOP biomes should spawn in ATG worlds.

You could not be more wrong, friend. ATG has it's on settings for this, and as it should as ATG as a reminder stands for Alternate Terrain Generation. It's a whole new world type, sorta like flatworlds, except more interesting.
In configs you'll find a folder called ATG, and that's where anything from ATG goes. I have only done some light editing to these configs, as I admit I am not sure how to tweak them correctly, but the Biome_Modifiers.cfg file is the one that controls what biomes spawn, and how often. And all overworld biomes it knows are overworld are set to true, including all BoP biomes.
@Cosmology27 I'm not sure what to tell you, it's a weird thing you're seeing. Lots of oceans, though, I have seen that before, and it was my own fault AFAIK, I had edited some settings and I guess I wasn't careful with them or something...

Really, I guess it's a question of what you changed and how much.

I understand that ATG is a different world type; I use it in my personal modpack. But as Cosmo mentioned several biomes from BOP, I'm assuming that he was looking for them. So to get Biomes O' Plenty biomes to spawn in a ATG world type you need change the config so that BOP biomes will spawn in a non-BOP world type. Even the mod author says that on his forum post here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1932156-16x-atg-alternate-terrain-generation/

I mentioned in my original post that I experienced thousands of chunks of shrubland (a BoP biome). I also mentioned I haven't seen any desert (a vanilla biome). I really don't get why this is happening. I basically just get a whole ton of forest, then a whole ton of grassy area, then a whole ton of ocean. The type of forests change, but it makes for a VERY uninteresting and bland map, which is the opposite of what I was looking for with ATG.
I've messed with the ATG config a lot, and it doesn't seem to make any difference in terms of how much ocean I see or desert I do not see. It did eliminate the biomes that I gave a 0.0 value for though, which is nice. I'm also not seeing a whole lot of rivers, even though I gave rivers a very high rating.

EDIT:
This is annoying too... I killed all the values for oceans, and even killed them all in the BoP config, and I'm STILL getting oceans! I don't want huge oceans, and I've disabled them (according to the configs) so how am I supposed to get rid of oceans then???

So from an earlier thread you had mentioned that you are playing the Monster modpack. What I would do is that I would make a back-up of the modpack and do a force update to redownload it. That should give you the original configs. Then you could go in and and enable the BOP biomes like I posted earlier.

Oceans are unavoidable, AFAIK, since they are gonna crop up where the land ends. If the terrain goes low enough to go below water level, a ocean will show up.

Also, ATG is hard to tweak perfectly, and even it obeys seed values. You may be better off not using it at all, honestly, and just searching for a better seed without it.
