Are Platinum bees worth it?

I've toyed with the idea of making platinum bees my main source of iridium, since I enjoy bee breeding. But when I played with one in creative I had second thoughts. I set up an isolater/synthesizer/purifier/inoculator setup just like you would in survival, and it took a whole lot of time and BC power to get a fast, fertile, and long lived platinum breeding pair, and since I spawned the bees in that isn't including the actually time spent crossbreeding to get platinum bees. I put them in an automated apiary with 3 frames in it and I have only gotten 3 platinum combs despite the apiary running for several hours. So now I'm wondering if platinum bees are really worth it. Can some of you share your setups and show me how efficient they are?

Definitely if you are playing on GT default mode, but you must use alveary+9 frame housings (that will give you max productivity) it is around 5892 eu/t for GT default uum cost OR 4 iridiums/ hour (that's one pair of bee) OR 27.5 sec/platinum comb. But you also need a good source of wood and seed oil for the frames.

Yes..It's fast enough for me since I have 4 of it so it's around 15 minutes for me.

All I know about that is there used to be in my version, and now there isn't.

I'm not sure if it's removed for the sake of greg-tech, or if extra-bees has removed it.
it may not have even been fully implemented

Binnie removed 'em for being OP.
But I think there are still chrome bees, which are very usefull later on the game.

Yes, ferrous ore+mercury; 36 ferrous ore = 4 iridiums.
