Hey guys, new here but having a lot of fun with ftb.
I am focusing on thaumcraft 3, while my buddies focus on other mods.
I am building my mages tower about 40 tall, to be accessed through the elevator. I have built 4 levitators and it works great. The problem is I dont want them constantly spawning wisps and draining vis, so I have been working to design a timed switch that turns on, lifts the player, then shuts off a few seconds after they are up.
I have made a couple designs, including
pulse-extenders
a system that breeds a cow, the baby activates a switch then suffocates when grown, shutting it off
a system that has a player throw an item in a hole, activating a switch (stays on till the item despawns though)
a simple on off lever, but that leaves it on the time the player is on top, and requires you to remember to shut it off.
The pulse extender is the most elegant, but for some reason I am encountering a glitch.
It shows that all four levitators are activated, but every fourth or fifth time, The lift only brings the player 20 spaces, holds them there for the rest of the time, then drops them to their death. I know it isnt a glitch in the redstone because it works perfectly with any other vanilla redstone device, and works most of the time with the levitators.
Does anyone have any other clever solutions to this?
Some have suggested to leave them on all the time to allow wisps to spawn so you can get their drops..
