Back when logicstic pipes were around you used to be able to keep containers supplied with a certain number of items within a machine.

Few examples I can recall was keeping a peat engine filled with only 10 peat... No more or less. Or a carpenter that was configured to craft bog earth to be supplied with only 16 dirt and 16 sand.

Is there a way to do it with AE or even any other mod currently present in the Ultimate pack?

There's a roundabout way to get exact numbers, however inefficient in most cases.

I'm going to use an engine as your intended inventory for ease of explanation
Basically you set up a new network which only storage is a storage bus onto the engine you want to keep stocked with exact numbers. Then using import bus' and level emitter on an interface that's in your item network, you can pull items into your engine when it goes lower than intended. If you really want it precise, then also use an export bus pumping items out of your engine w/ storage bus back into your item network.

But personally in most cases, I don't see why you can't just use a single export bus to fill up the engine completely constantly.

well you can do it with red power regulators if that fits into what you are doing

If you wanted to use Applied Energestics, then would the level emitter be useful to you? It seems like a stretch, but I think it is possible.
