I haven't checked out the new AE yet. Do these meteors damage buildings? And if so can you turn the bloody things off?

Yeah, sounds like a double edged sword that I don't actually see working in favor of anyone who wants the burden of AE to be bombing their server.

Hmm, it might not be the best solution...

But why not create a multi-block which attracts and captures falling meteors. AE is already delving into the realm of quantum singularities, so it would be feasible to "create" a field, contained within an multi-block, which gravity (within the field) is inversely proportional to the acceleration of the meteor. (Just so it "makes" sense).

(a) You could completely forget about meteors falling, and pretend that this block is your "meteor" farm.

(b) If the materials from meteors are required early in the AE progression, perhaps it can remove all meteor falls, within a certain radius. They would all be attracted to this multi-block, thus preventing random meteors appearing everywhere. This might be a mid-to-late game solution for the meteors, as to add some "progression" to AE.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but there are no falling meteors. It's World gen and will generate as you explore the world.
So, they don't respawn? Does this mean you have to load new chunks, eventually, in order to get more materials for AE? So much for automation... Heh.

Meteors falling and blowing stuff up? Kind of regressive, don't you think?

The meteors are part of worldgen, just like iron ore or copper ore...they aren't the falling meteors that you are thinking of.[DOUBLEPOST=1398887941][/DOUBLEPOST]

That is correct. There is already a HUGE thread on the new AE2 and what the FTB community thinks about it :D

Hmm. Well it definitely is a limiter in terms of progression. Though AE systems don't need to be scaled on an ultra stringent basis. If you build 16(?) 4k cells, fill up an entire ME drive, that is enough memory to last 4-5 full sized quarries.

I dunno, it is almost like nether quartz, except with fortune III, that stuff is easy. We'll see where this takes it.

I do find that AE is too easy to build up, once you get there. I am arbitrarily upgrading my computer, because i am building up too much quartz from my laser drills. Going AFK really is the best way to get resources IMO.

I find this is where ExtraCells comes in. I had over 10k quartz (and even more dust), I managed to use most of it making a couple of 16M storage cells.

Although it is quite annoying that they are 256x the storage size of the biggest cells in standard AE but still only allow 63 item types.

From everything I have seen, meteors are needed for the initial patterns to craft circuits, and the stone is used for the ME Controller, which isn't even needed for a small network. So as soon as you get the patterns, you shouldn't need to hunt for more meteors unless you're building a house out of ME Controllers.

Hmm, then it's not such a big deal. It is almost trivial imo though. If it's only really required as an entry level resource, why even bother including it in the mod? World gen should be useful throughout the mods life.

Like I said, ME Controllers. Those appear to be for mid-later into AE, rather than in the start of it. Plus, the Sky Stone looks great.
