Can anyone help me out with an automatic bee setup that creates and maintains a specific bee stock? I have a majestic line of bees, and want to breed them with majestic drones so I don't lose the breeding stock. In fact, I have no idea how to even BEGIN with automated beekeeping. Can anyone help me?

Two apiaries, both with the exact same queens. Set blue and red (Colors vary depending on orientation) to "Any bee" and yellow to "Any item" Drones and princesses will feed back in, excess drones and combs will go out the gold pipe. Guaranteed to never dump a princess out the gold path, and never leave a princess without a drone.

Note, to use with Alvearies you need to update your forestry from what is currently in FTB packs. 2.0.0.3 has a bug that was later fixed but is not yet in FTB. But it's a similar setup.

(Pretend the other 26 alveary blocks are there)

I notices you have very little flowers around your hives... does that effect productivity?

No, a single flower is all that's needed. They'll spread to any grass (maybe dirt as well) but it doesn't help or hurt things. Can even make bees require something else - or even nothing at all.

You know, I just realized recently that RP2 actually does provide a way to do something similar, although it's somewhat more bulky.
The problem with RP2 filters is that the filter items must match exactly - which is problematic when you have bees with variable genetics.
The obvious workaround, though, is to key the filters to the products, instead of the bees - then you can route the bees back into the apiary/alveary, and set up a restriction pipe for drone overflow. Of course, the issue is pumping the items out - a timer/transposer combination is somewhat expensive in terms of redstone, and a redstone engine -> relay scheme is hardly any cheaper. You are saving yourself two diamond, though.

You mean, 1/4 of a diamond. Which you can use to service up to four apiaries.

And if you want to compare being dependent on diamonds at all, down the line you need a diamond saw to make silicon plates for the filters.
