Hey all. Was messing around with wireless Redstone a bit, and I got to thinking... what if we had an Ender-brand lever? Three little pads and all; the lever could be diamond-locked.

Would it be too OP or would it be just right?

Edit: Okay so since we've hit some discussion, here is my vision for Ender Levers:

UiOxT6Q.png

  • Has the three pads in the EnderStorage format for customizing frequency.
  • The lever housing can be diamond-locked (lever itself or housing? I think housing.)
  • Multiple levers on the same frequency will all respond to one lever being flipped. So four levers on White-White-White (no diamond) will flip ALL levers on White-White-White. Diamond White-White-White will be unaffected.
  • Using Ender Dust because I can't figure out how a lever would have the little bobbing Ender Pearl realized; it's just a lever that can be placed in any orientation.

Some thread suggestions:

  • Use Ender Pearls and give 2x instead of dust, thereby eliminating third party reliance.
  • Use a lever in the crafting recipe. Or a stick.

Wouldn't that be pretty much the same thing as a normal level with a wireless transmitter behind it?
...Just like Tesseracts and ender chests I guess

I guess the difference is the control on who can flip the lever. I mean, if you can "Lock" the lever so only you(and maybe other people you allow) can use it, it's kind of different. Except Private Frequencies from WRCBE are exactly that, but not a lever in the world...
Actually might be useful come to think of it, but rather then an actual in world lever, I'd add a toggle state button an advanced Wireless Redstone Remote, allowing you to make it so you can turn it on by default, or not.
And if one could set a actual redstone level, it would be even better!

I would subscribe to this newsletter.

Recipe: 4 ender pearls surrounding a lever makes 2 "ender levers". Color code them, just like ender chests. Collect winnings.

It's just easier, and more intuitive; every Minecraft player from vanilla through FTB knows how to work a lever.

so you mean a lever that you can place, the color codes would work like the ender chests/tanks and you can lock that specific color with a diamond, and if you switch that lever it'll activate another lever? or a redstone dust? or do you need to link the lever to an object or machine?

but 4 pearls for 2 levers...

Hmm Ender levers would only be good for one thing and that is toggling RS signals on and off. Then you need ender buttons too. And..
Just easier to have one wireless RS system and then add the RS source of choice to it. Good idea, but personally think I will pass.

Honestly I was thinking something like a Blaze rod, Obsidian Block and Ender Dust (since Levers work as Redstone signal, and it would be difficult to realize the bobbing Ender Pearl.)

While I'm inclined to agree with you, this took a ridiculous amount of space to make a simple on-off system for my basic pump.

...are you implying that this is too expensive? Cause pearls are easy as sin to come by...and this "ender lever" is actually a decently powerful item. I'm at work, can't look things up, but doesn't the wireless emitters use magma cream (necessitating a visit to the nether)? At least you could do my recipe for the "ender lever" in the overworld.

Errr..
1. Cable? Guessing you are playing DW20 1.6, in which case you should have access to both MFR rednet cable and Project red good old fashion cable/wire. Personally haven't used redstone as wires outside vanilla since I discovered mods adding wires/cables.
2. Why exactly do you need to turn the redstone engines off? Why not just let them run? They are most efficient when running hot(red mode).
3. You don't need the fluiduct, just slap the endertank directly onto the pump. Eliminate bottlenecks should you power the pump with more than redstone engines.

OT: If you choose to keep it in the style of Enderchests/tanks etc, you need to incorporate a piece of wool into the recipe. That way you can preset all the 3 colours by using a dyed piece of wool.

1. Rednet and Project Red, good reminder. Still, levers are one block! I strive for compact builds.
2. Because I don't want to lag out the server when I am asleep? I choose to leave the pump off because of my very very VERY small power demands right now.
3. My bad, I just always assume the worst when starting out with newish packs. ;D

And to respond to your other comment, I updated the OP. Recipe should be shaped.

Oh also:
Stick:its a lever, you need a stick :p or maybe have an actual lever in the recipe.
Ender dust: Using dust would cause the mod to be reliant on another mods to macerate/pulverise the enderpearls wouldn't it? That is generally a bad idea. Instead I would recommend using an Enderpearl in the recipe and then rewarding 2 levers(somewhat offsets the increased cost). And the bobbing pearl? Well you could reason that the pearl is not actually used in constructing the item, but in the process of linking them together.

You're creating lag by using a bc pump which leaves flowing lava. Use an enderthermic pump and that'll reduce lag. If you're paranoid about the redstone engines then just use 1 magmatic dynamo next to the enderthermic pump. It'll throttle down when not needing much power.

True true. I like these ideas.

Oh man, I want to try that. I'm just totally not a fan of mucking up the Nether by leaving stone behind, haha. I think I'm a good custodian to our server though, so I might try it out.
