If so how to you do updates?
I hadn't heard of Mine OS before, it sounds interesting!

Call me old fashioned, but I replace my server's mod and config folders with the ones from the updated version of the modpack. Then repeat any config changes I had made originally and boom, update complete. Oh and a map backup before updating is always a good idea!

I can't recall but I think a host made that custom for their servers, not surer which host though. I think they charged per slot so I avoided them. That's all I know about mineOS.

It is currently on its third revision and there is no indication that it was made for a host, its just one guy. It has decent documentation and does appear to have reasonable performance benefits. If the only use of a VPS or dedicated machine was to host a Minecraft server, this would be my OS of choice. Many of us also run web servers, voice communications, and such from our servers.

This latest version is just a set of scripts that are installed via apt get. and you can then run your server from a web console. Any Debian based distro should work fine without any modifications. I'm using Ubuntu server. Just running FTB takes a bit of extra work, but not a whole lot. Would love to see a FTB aware server controller similar to MineOS. that you could log into and click update. and update your servers to the next version.. Mayhap I need to learn PHP, Python, or PERL and get 'er done!
