I'm playing on an Infinity server, and like to use signs to label things. But sometimes those labels need to change (in particular when dealing w bee breeding). Is there any tool in the vastness of FtB Infinity that lests you retype a sign w/o breaking and replacing it? That just gets old after a while...

I think OpenBlocks lets you create a sponge that you can click on a sign to retype it. The details should be in the World Domination guide that you spawn with, unless I'm remembering something wrong.

Huh. You're right. I could've sworn that some modded added a way to get a sponge that erases signs... but none of the sponges in my slightly modified Infinity instance do. I guess that functionality was in some other mod that wasn't included in that pack.

You might want to try vanilla Item Frames or Bibliocraft chest labels. While you can't type on them, you can use them to display items, such as whatever your bees produce.

If that doesn't suit your needs, I recommend investing in either Bibliocraft fancy signs (which are re-writable, as I just found out- shift-click with an empty hand to open the GUI) or a cobalt TiCo axe.

I could have sworn it was OpenBlocks as well, but just looked it up and it is the "Sponge Wipe" from Flat Signs.

Another option for rewritable signs would be Nuclear Control "Information Panels" with "Text Cards". They look much better as well. Advanced versions can be changed in size and shape as well.

On infinity you also have the option to use rftools screens which can (besides text that can be changed at will) show a lot more information (energy level, fluid level, inventory contents, time of day, ...)

Right, Flat Signs... I knew that at some point...

Speaking of Nuclear Control, RFTools recently added its own Screen block that can to some of the same things. It's considerably more expensive than signs, though.
(Gah, ninja'd. I really need to stop testing things, then testing other, slightly related things, then other completely unrelated things...)

You can use BiblioCraft signs and edit them by shift clicking or you could use BiblioCraft Labels they work just as well

You could also use Steve's Factory Manager as that allows sign editing (and you can also make it so it does stuff like scrolling text, etc.)

Hate to be that guy, but turtles. Little cheap miracle working turtles. I really believe they can do anything. All you have to do is know how to ask...

It might be my imagination that is weak, but how on earth would you use turtles to make signs on things? And make them easily modifiable?
Could understand if you meant CC computer+Monitor perhaps.

CC monitor would likely be easier, but turtle API allows for signs to be placed with text on them. Seeing as turtles can detect blocks around them, know what is in them, and all sorts of other things, you could make the turtle gather the info you want, break old sign, then replace with new text. Admittedly not optimal, but people overlook how much power you can get for such little resources.
