I'm playing FTB Ultimate and I have a mouse with two extra buttons on it, the two buttons are bound to the windows back and forward keys. when I press my push to talk button (forward) the game pauses and I have to click on the window before I can do anything again. Like I have pressed alt+tab. Is there a file I can edit to change this key bind?

I'm still kinda confused on what you want to change.....
Just rebind the buttons to either what you use in-game for motion ( w,a,s,d?)

Its not a button I can rebind, I'm not sure what the exact key combination is that my mouse keys are emulating (its not alt+left/right arrow) but I can't assign the mouse button to a keybind in the minecraft options. Its kind of like saying I want to unbind the esc button (which isn't bound to anything according to the controls menu). Is there any config file I can edit to do that? that keybind might be in the same file.
I don't know about inside of minecraft, but you should be able to go into the software you installed for the mouse and rebind the keys there.
ok, it doesn's actually do it with the vanilla minecraft. Also I don't want to change my mouse button key binds. If you can't think of anything else for me thats cool. Thanks for trying to help. I found that I can hold tab to avoid the options menu opening so thats kind of a fix.
EDIT: actually if I hold down any button it doesnt open the menu. So its just that its too many buttons for the game to register.

Basiclly the windows foward or backwards buttons on a standard mouse make FTB goto the menu when in game.
I use those buttons for vent, as does cerebral.
When i push those buttons in FTB MC it goes to a menu.
ONLY FTB does this. Vanillia MC, TechnicLauncher MC both do not do this. so it is something in FTB.
I know i can just change my vent button, but any other key conflics with my computer useage and since this is something caused by FTB i shouldnt have to change EVERYTHING else to make it work. Im sure there is a way to change this in FTB's files if one of the developers reads this. But yeah, it is annoying, the only way i can play and use vent is if i put my vent button to backspace which is VERY disruptive to my computer useage.

well one way to fix this is to copy the instance over to your defalt .minecraft folder. I know its not the best way but it will work. also multi mc will case this to hapen as well. I think it has to do with the nameing of the folder as Vanillia MC, TechnicLauncher MC both use the folder name ".minecraft" and FTB and multi mc do not. hope this helps.

This is a common problem, it's not something you can fix in Minecraft. I know, I've had it myself.
What worked for me was to go into the mouse settings and change the key function to "Generic Button". That means that the program itself doesn't use it for anything, but I can still use it for TS and Vent.

Generic Button does not seem to help hmm in default launcher or MultiMC I can alt+tab plus hold button and close menu and it fixes it.
Edit: To fix follow this and install http://sourceforge.net/projects/java-game-lib/files/Official Releases/LWJGL 2.8.4/ (perhaps newer versions work but this one mentioned in the thread did it.
