I havve been using steve's carts to collect wood and saplings (1 force and 1 birtch) I can never get enough biomass from those saplings before they run out and i have to wait 20 more minutes to get another several stacks worth. Well anyway i want to know is there any rilly good way of getting biomass.saplings for my fermenter?

The best and efficient way I have ever produced saps is not with steve carts but with forestry's multifarm with redwood or fir trees from XL biomes. Saps literally fall like rain. One 2x2 tree produces a stack plus of saps and the tree grow at almost the same rate as vanilla trees that are only allowed when using steve carts.

If that isn't an option, I have found that setting up multiple carts with multiple tree farms as a way.

third and patient way is just to run your tree farm and build up a surplus before proccessing the saps.

Don't forget to always be fertilizing. Always fertilize.

Does that work? Last time I tried it the XL biome saplings wouldn't work in forestry machines. (That was way in the early days of 1.4 though, before tree breeding existed.)

Works in mindcrack, direwolf20 1.4.7 modpacks. (Multiblock farm forestry + Fir/red wood saps = stacks of wood and stacks of saps for days.)

Sweet. Back when I first started my 1.4 world I had made a Felling Turtle specifically designed for redwoods (only semi-automatic -- I had to manually place it at each tree). I stopped using it because the amount of logs I was getting was just silly. (I shudder to think of the result if I ran it on one of the Natura redwoods.)

in xlbiomes, its just in its own biome. sometimes its easy to find. Sometimes its not. I have no idea in natura.
easy trees to spot as they are so tall and huge.

he is useing a 1.5.2 pack xl biomes isnt is any of the 1.5.2 pack that i know of for biomass in 1.5 1/2 large forestry tree farms will do or get into bees/tree breeding and get plum/lemon/mahoe trees as thay give x4-x6 more biomass per sapling

Use still(10:3) intead of refinery(4:1)
You can use creosote/fruit juice/liquid peat to increase the amount of Biomass you get from each sapling combine this with a sapling that has high sapiness and you get 3 buckets of biomass per sapling
I recommend you change the spruce farm to a oak farm it produces saplings/wood and produces apples for fruit juice

Tartarus.. I mean at work. Same thing really.
Which modpack are you using?

If its ultimate the minefactory harvester blocks are recommended- they shred trees at a stupid speed and work with most modded saplings
(a few of the larger trees might need a config tweak to extend the search range of the block)

Also use either oak saplings, or a modded tree type that makes apples/fruit- you make biomass more efficiently with juice than water, and the mulch byproduct can be used as a fermenting agent.

If you dont have minefactory- a forestry multifarm (orchard) for fruit, and a few cart farms for saplings should sort you.
(if you have Gregtech- run the biomass through a distillation tower, it'll turn 16 buckets of mass into 8 of fuel in about 20 seconds)

If you have MFR, just use a Bio Reactor to generate biofuel, then a Bio Generator for 16 MJ/t.

Unless something changes, twilight trees are a bad idea- they generate root blocks into the ground (can be quite destructive- they tear through most blocks)

oooo ok SO the bio reactor creates ethanol?
The Bio Reactor creates a purple liquid called 'Biofuel'. However, it is functionally identical to the 'Ethanol' which is present in Forestry. It runs identically in steam boilers, for example. If you have a problem and need to convert, there's a block for that as well.

You should try to get into treebreeding! It's not as hard as some people claim it to be at all, and the combinations can easily be found via NEI. Just create a tree of some kind with the 'high' saplings trait and the 'high' sappiness trait, stick this tree in a Forestry multifarm, then prepare the swimming pool you're gonna need to contain all your ethanol.

I actually have a different method: A turtle mining redwood / fir trees, with a wood golem picking up all the saplings afterwards. The turtle usually gets enough wood to feed itself (I'm after the saplings, not the wood) and the golem usually gets a stack or two saplings per tree - it gives me way more saplings than I ever need, heh!
