So I just recently decided to move out and explore modded servers as an option, to add alongside my vanilla servers. But there's no easy way to decide what's best for a server when you're using mods.
A friend and I submitted a modpack, and it has been recently approved, so now comes the difficult bit.
Starting up, I realize things like quarries or extra dimensions will drastically lag a server in large quantities, but how do I handle these without taking too much away from the mods or giving too much power to a player?
Aside from that I have to deal with limiting permissions, is there a mod or some revived Cauldron spinoff that can handle player commands and who can do what? Or am I left to the option of /op and the occasional ban? Please note before submitting Sponge as an option, we're currently in 1.7.10 on the modpack, but will update to 1.8 eventually.
I know most of these questions are kinda noobish but I want to set up this server without ruining the experience or skipping an important setting that ultimately corrupts everything. I'll list mods if need be, but most of them are standard things like IC2, AE2 and a few magic-based mods like Thaum.
Thanks for at least reading this.
