I've allocated 8gb of ram to ftb, I've done the slider thing, and I have 64 bit java. My debug says I have 8033mb of memory to USE in ftb, but it says I only have 598mb ALLOCATED to ftb. The game starts fun but after about 4-5 minutes becomes unplayably slow. Any fixes for me tech wizards?

I upped it so much because I was trying to figure out why my game lags so much. It's not even like I'm on a server, the game just runs this slow on my computer. It does it no matter if I give the game 512 or 8096, it runs the same way.

Java doesn't know what to do with itself above 5 GB of RAM.

Can you post your launchers console log to pastebin.com and link it?

Installed Optifine, didn't seem to change much, but it my original MC, Optifine helps out a lot. It says its in the modpack and everything. Other things like disabling mystcraft and twilight forest I don't really want to do. Besides, I think it has something to do with Minecraft/java because my original MC would do the same thing, but doesnt anymore because of optifine. I might have installed optifine wrong with ftb but i did everything it said to do. That whole video card setup thing is extremely vague. It doesn't really tell me to do anything. It's gotten a little better in the start, but the long run is still unplayable.

It has to be vague. I do FTB tech support, not generalized hardware support.
Easiest way to optimize:
1. Know your maker
2. Go to their website
3. Find on their FAQ's or forums how to optimize performance

I can't get any more specific, because nearly every manufacturer will be different.

I have a GeForce GT 555M. Currently downloading GeForce Experience to optimize it for me. Hopefully this will fix it because it's the only thing I haven't tried on the list.[DOUBLEPOST=1369279346][/DOUBLEPOST]Nevermind 555M can't use GeForce Experience

Integrated graphics? That'll be your problem.

So there is nothing I can do unless I get a different computer...
Here's how integrated graphics worked for me:
This is my laptop: http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/retail-product.jsp?poid=452315
It has Win7 x64. Which meant I had 4 GB of RAM.

I was able to allocate 2.5 to the launcher to get optimal performance for the machine.
My MAX fps was hovering around 30, on REALLY good days.

Things I had to do:
  • no other user-activated processes open. No web browser, no skype, nothing else.
  • Java prioritized with the computer
  • All graphics settings set to Max FPS/low video quality
  • Used optifine
I averaged 15 fps on the DW20 pack, which is FAR less intensive than Ultimate. I don't think I ever got Ultimate above 5 fps.
But that's your call.

I'm getting 45-50 for the first 5 or so minutes of play, at which point it plummets to a lewd 10-15 in the Ultimate pack.

I have Optifine installed. I shut down most of everything when I kick on FTB. I have 4 gb of ram allocated. Graphics set to fast, render distance to normal.

My specs are:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz
2x4 (8gb) ram
GeForce GT 555M
Win 7 (64-bit)

Kind of, it was their model, it was so long ago now, I forget what exactly it was but it was around $1,200 at the time. I've tweaked a few things, mostly for airflow purposes, and it's been to rework once, about 6-7 months ago. If I bought it now yeah, but this thing isn't new. They don't even sell it anymore. I meant what does this have to do with my FTB lagging.
