An idea-y thing for an FTB PVP video series

I had an idea.

We'd have two teams (probably with two people on each) on a server, and the teams will try to kill each-other. Each player gets 3 respawns due to enemy action (accidental/mob deaths don't count)- after that, that player is out of the game (but his teammate/s can keep fighting).

In the beginning, the teams will split up into two of eight stable Mystcraft ages, one for each team. They will then have one hour in creative mode to begin building; after that time, everything is legit (so the first thing you're going to want to build is resource generation). Each team will try to find the enemy, and while doing so they will also want to build up their defenses for when the enemy finds them.

Once the teams find each-other, the real fight begins. This is probably going to be the shortest part, unless one team invests heavily in defenses. Once all the members of one team are out, the team left standing is the winner.

I'm thinking of a custom modpack for this, with the basics (that is, BC/IC2/RP, probably Thermal Expansion, Thaumcraft, etc... as well), ICBM (and the UE mods needed to support it) and maybe some other stuff.

Would anyone be interested in being part of this, or even watching it? Any suggestions on what mods should be included?

I'd be interested I guess, but I see some pretty glaring issues.
  • Why 8 ages? 2 or even one would do just fine, having all those extras is just creating more problems then it solves
  • 3 lives? if they start in creative and separated, they should be able to manage with just one, more hardcore that way
  • 1 hour to build? in survival maybe, but in creative that's just ridiculous
  • Creative is also a problem. Why do I need resource generation, I'll just spawn in quantum and some HV solars, that's all I need for pvp.
here's some ideas to make it more interesting, without removing creative.
  • No quantum suits allowed, they ruin pvp.
  • More and bigger teams, also encourage alliances.
  • Reduce the number of ages, by forcing teams to constantly threaten each other, it creates a constant tension (this only works with the 1-life style though)
if you want to go for an FTB hunger games that would be cool and easier to pull off, but what you have here is more of a clash of kingdoms sort of idea

I'm going for a more cerebral challenge. It's not a melee- I intend for most of the time being spent actually finding the enemy. The one hour to build is so that machines can be made- quantumsuit and HV solars themselves aren't going to help you much against someone trying to get into your house when you're not there. One hour is actually pretty short for two guys to build a defensible self-sufficient bunker.

There will only be two teams. The three lives thing is so that it isn't over the moment contact is made.

Removing quantum might be a good idea (expecially since it can be spawned in). I might make it so that you're only allowed to spawn blocks, not items.

how does someone breaking into your base kill you? Having a good base is all well and good, but it all comes down to wining a fight.

Restricting such a broad category as items might be a problem because it allows for a lot of grey areas and it is hard to regulate

What grey areas? If you can place it, it's a block, else it's an item.
