Am I just really picky or is good real estate hard to come by.

My creativity for base design is horrible. I just cant come up with anything creative or good for a base design.. I guess I'm not a creative person lol. I'm really picky about where stuff goes but not creative so I usually end up just being indecisive and not getting anything done. I've actually went to rebuild my base 2 times already lol but I couldnt come up with a design I liked and gave up haha.. But neither of those two spots were as perfect for a base as this one I just found is either so hopefully I can come up with something.

Its easy making a base when you just start on a world as you kind of build it as you need it. But trying to build a new base after being on the world for a long time is hard for me and I try think think ok where to put this where to put that and I want to make sure this is close to that and then I cant come up with a design i like and nothing gets done because I cant make up my mind.Like having my storage room close to the entrance of the base and having my machines close to my eu and mj power generation and trying to work that into something that I like the look of. I just never get very far lol.

I think I need a to start with a theme maybe and try to build within a certain theme maybe that will help i dunno.

Finding a nice place to set up is a nightmare indeed, I did just get lucky though! Was zooming around looking for a nice spot to set up my 3rd base on a map and found a nice plain next to an autumn biome with a village less than 100 meters away.

Screenshot (and seed, with coordinates) if anyone wants it.

I've have to recreate the world like 3 times now doe to certain things And I really really liked the area my base was at on the first two worlds but in this world I have went over 2k from the spawn and I just cannot find any areas like my on my old world or any that I like at all.

I have been on this world for a good few weeks and made a ton of progress but I made my base on a red rock mountain and its just pure ugly the base is just a ugly huge rectangle. There just isnt enough room and flat land to make anything nice.

Is it just me or is finding a nice flat grassy area big enough for a large base extremely rare.

I had the same trouble. I wanted the bright green jungle grass, but without the jungle terrain. Trying to find a meadow biome was like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Eventually I did find one about 1500 & 2500 blocks diagonally from spawn and is pretty sweet as it has a large mountainous redwood forest biome behind it, jungle biome to another side, river and normal hill forest to another side and then a snow/ice biome over the river on the far side (the one with the snow blocks about 5 deep before you see stone). It's pretty much flat right the way across and with render distance on normal instead of far it gives a really subtle misty effect over the redwood forest which looks awesome and very natural. :)

Meadows are cool for building things, but a base can look really boring, since all your buildings will be at the same height. I find that demolishing a forest gives you a nice place to live, as the small and occasionally big hills on the landscape can make a home look far more interesting, and having some scenery other than just sky and grass makes a place look better to, only problem being that mobs will be quite common, as the trees protect them from sunlight, so a defensive fence may be needed :) Plus, forests do not get thaumcraft barrows screwing up the aura, something that has caused many, many otherwise perfect worlds to be deleted.

The barrows are not such an issue actually. I posted a thread last week about one near my base but a few silverwood trees planted in the area makes it a non-issue.

The only problem I find with this is that silverwood saplings are hard to find.
