Alveary Mutator and Uranium

My alveary mutator seems to be working improperly (at least, I think so). It does not work with refined uranium, only pure uranium ore. Is this intentional, is this a bug, or am I missing something?

Mine consumes the refined uranium, but doesn't seem to have any effect on the mutation chance (i.e. it's just eating uranium for no reason).

Im pretty sure it eats anything you put in there however nothing will happen unless its an item that does something.

as stated above ore mutates, ingots just get used with no effect.

Thanks guys. I thought it was a bug; apparently not using the ingots is a feature rather than a problem.
