For some reason my bees won't mutate while I'm using Nether Stars and the wiki. It's stating that with a Nether Star you have a 100% chance success rate. I've tried 3 various species and not one mutation. My Alveary is set up in a jungle biome if that matters. I can lower and increase the temperature, and change the humidity, basicly I've got all special Alveary blocks including the Swarmer.

What am I doing wrong?

Also, when looking at the Apiarist Database, does it matter, evolution wise, what bee is the drone or the princess?

I can't help you with the mutator question, I'd leave out the swarmer personally.

Princess or Drone makes no difference, as long as you have a princess from one side and a drone from the other it should mutate.

Have you tried using Uranium instead of a nether star?

I've just tried Uranium, and no mutation. I had a Forest Princess and an Industrial Drone and all I got back were Forest Bees. I know Uranium isn't 100% chance on most bees, but if the wiki is correct in stating success rate is x10, then it should guarantee a mutation. Forest + Industrial > 12% chance of mutation so with Uranium it's over 100%.

I'm confused...

Which bee exactly were you after?

It looks like you're trying to get the Stannum Bee? If so the Alveary must be sitting on Tin Blocks for this mutation to occur... If you're going for the Plumbum bee after that, you'll have to change the Tin Blocks for Lead Blocks.

Try restarting your game. Alternatively, and I've seen this personally, try resetting the alveary by removing a block from it and then replacing it.

I did not know this. I just used the Industrialist bee as an example. I'll 'restart' the alveary so to speak and try again.

I'm currently using http://ftbwiki.org/Bee_Species
If you know another page that's more detailed, I would appreciate it :)

That page certainly looks to have all the correct information. As it says you have to have Tin under the alveary to get that particular mutation to occur.

Try Forest and Meadows, about the most simple start you can get. As you can see not all combinations would mutate, also get yourself a BeeAlyser and analyse every successive generation, it could be that you are producing Hybrids with the recessive gene of the Bee you are looking for.

http://ftbwiki.org/Tutorial:Bee_Basics_(Apiculture) has better run through of what you can achieve.

Good read :) I know a bit how to breed bees (Although someone else is hooked on our server :p), took us a while to get the pollen and jelly requirements.

I managed to mutate some bees into Growing Bees. So that mutation did work, I used Uranium. I'll try out more with Nether Stars later. Even with an Alveary, I believe some bees are still biome restricted. I guess I just had an unlucky streak of biome restricted bees or something.

Make sure you dont mix the use of Soul Frames and the Mutator. Apparently there is some sort of cap now from mutations multiplier. And if you use both it seems to almost completely remove the chance of mutation. When I removed the soul frames and only used the mutator with uranium ore, i started getting almost guaranteed mutations.
I think that there has been added a max of x10 to the mutation rate using the Mutator. So using anything above uranium is a waste(and might not even work).

if you multiply more than 10 times the mutation chance ( it's 1 peace of uranium) you risk getting swarmers and nobody like swarmers

I'm using 4 Proven Frames for easy production. Some bees producing a stack of combs. No need to use the other frames because I've got plenty of Uranium and Nether Stars. Have a lvl 5 Wither Skeleton spawner so we have loads of skulls. Would find it a bit silly that Nether Stars wouldn't work. I'll keep trying them though, see what happens.

Do Swarmers mean that bees get the - at their name? I know how that mechanic works :)

Also what else I noticed is that my Alveary doesn't fly out bees and my trees aren't getting pollinated. The bottom row of the Alveary is below ground so I can attach pipes. But I would find that weird that that must be the reason. Would anyone know why?

I also greatly appreciate the help guys. I do read up on the wiki, but there's still questions!

As far as I remember alvearies don't animate that way and you need at least 2 different types of trees to get pollination to work. Also put the tree breeding spectacles on, will help you spot pollinated trees better :) (although it makes trees look, erm, colourful?)

Basically if your queens die and you get princesses and drones out, it's working.

I have a few trees surrounding my Alveary, I even made sure to analyze the saplings and used bonemeal to grow them. I'm wearing zeh goggles and still no pollunations.

My normal Apiaries seem to work just fine, loads of colored leaves.

Hmm very strange, could just be a time thing? Bee breeding is not a quick fix for anything I guess. I've just checked the bee animation on my alvearies and it does seem they should do that.

What type of bees do you have in each, and what pollination traits do they have? Certain pollination traits on bee won't pollinate trees.

I'm still breeding mostly the mundane bees, Forest, Meadows etc. I mix them up sometimes to get Common and Cultivated or the more rare bees like from the Industrial, Metallic or Veiled branches. Still no pollination.

I'll try making new goggles, see if that changes anything.
