What I found annoying is that aluminum cans can only be used for water and lava. I wanted to use my liquid transposer to put oil in aluminium cans but nope that only works with tin cans. (Speaking of which, all my tin cans seem to have vanished from my transposer-enderchest-transposer oil transport system. They must have escaped from the BC pipes and despawned at some point.)

Anyhow, since I don't have GT, aluminum is currently useless for me, and will be until I want lava or water cans.

They're even less useful than that... I made some aluminum cans when I first started (before I had a lot tin), and they refused to pick up lava from the environment like regular cans are able to.

GT cannot use aluminum. It is a resource from XYCraft.
GT uses aluminium, which is different.
Yeah, I already gathered that, I just misspoke. Perhaps I should have said that I have no use for aluminum or aluminium (which I don't have at all, which is a pity since that's the right spelling :p)

Lava Cans are actually a pretty good use for Aluminum means you don't have to tie up a lot of more valuable resources when you get your Transposer\Nether pump setup going to feed your geothermals (if you are running IC2 of course, in my case it's Thermal gens since I am running Gregtech) I currently have 20 Thermal gens and at a stack of cans each that would be a lot of Tin tied up if I was using cells. It was also a good source of TC3 flight aspect but that was removed a while ago, haven't checked in the latest update to Thaumcraft if that's back.

I just found a decently sized lava lake not too far underground and very close to my base, so those aluminium cans will be useful very soon. Though I think I'll just be making it into obsidian in my igneous extruder, since I'm getting plenty of power from combustion engines, which are having a very difficult time making a dent in all the fuel I have stored up.
Um, I think I'm far enough off topic that I'd better unsub from this thread.

So I've been googling over an hour trying to figure out what these darn aluminum cans are used for and here I am in this thread reading it and yet it doesn't work. The cans just do not work at all. Wth....

Currentyly Xycraft is near useless other than its world gen. Hopefully it will get some machines going and an energy system very soon.

The spelling of the word aluminum/aluminium cannot be either right or wrong as it is a product of location. Please keep yourself from making this error in the future and maybe I won't need to make this distinction for you or anyone else again.

On a side note, for weeks I've thought Xycraft was completely useless until i found yesterday that he's trying to make the mod much larger and more useful than just blocks that mobs cannot spawn on. Still, I've come up with a design in my head for a mobtrap using the xychorium blocks... could be fun.

I can vouch that the cans do work. Just for vanilla fluids (water and lava), but they do work. They won't work if you try and use them in the field though. You need to use something like a Forestry bottler, a TE Liquid transposer or the GUI of the Railcraft tanks. They won't function in the player's hand or in the deployer. Much the same way as I think the cans from Forestry all work.

I use a large number of Aluminum cans in my lava extraction facility in the Nether whilst I'm gathering the resources to set up a boiler system. It really helps as I don't have the tin to spare with everything else I'm doing, and I haven't gone that far into the bee-keeping.

I'm sorry that your humour detector is broken.
