What tool is used to harvest plants? I know we can right-click on them to get the items. Left-clicking the items produce the same results, even when the plant(s) are broken. There aren't any near my home, and I'd rather not go out searching for them every time I need, nor do I want to cheat em in unless need be. So looking for some ideas here.

Do shears not work? Failing that, look up @Agriculture in NEI.

Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk

Shears no workie. Doing @mod.agriculture in NEI doesn't yield anything but the food items (no tools). I am using Gregtech, but nothing I can tell in his configs makes it harder to gather these items.

You can still get the plants, but planting them again? That I don't think you can do. A bucket of water works wonders for many things.
I assume you mean cinnamon and vanilla, mind you.

But it's strawberries and peanuts can be grown in a farm, thank gods.(since you can only find them in dungeons, it'd be hell otherwise)

Yeah I haven't been able to replant the spice plants in MF2 yet either.
2 things I haven't tried yet:
Silk Touch Shears/Axe
Wand Focus of Dislocation (I think this might work) from Thaumic Tinker

I'm pretty sure you should be able to replant the spice plants. Once you knock the spices off the plant the last bit can be punched off. You should then be able to plant that bit in tilled soil. As far as I know, though, there's no way of getting more seeds without finding plants in the wild.

That is not what happens in MF2 at least. If you punch the last bit away (or shear it, or axe it) then you just get another vanilla/cinnamon item, no plant.

Magic Farm 2 has Hunger Overhaul. You can find Natura Barley in the wild, but you can only get seeds from it if you right click it first to gather the barley then punch the bit left over.
I doubt it's a issue that isn't caused by Hunger Overhaul, honestly.

As far as i tested only peanut can be planted on farmland.
But there is a solution!
Use mekanism cardboard boxes to move cinnamon/vanilla plant around. :D

Silk touch shears/Axe don't work. I'm not advanced in Thaumcraft enough to confirm the other. A few months ago I was able to use it just fine. Plants were there. Now for some reason ... nothing :( .

Found a solution, Block Movers from "Random Things" can move then around. They can only be placed back on tiled soil by the way.

wow, I wonder when this changed because the last time I played with MF2 I was able to gather the spices and had a small amount in my farm happily churning out cinnamon and vanilla. Mind you it was a while ago when you were also able to make the various fruit sapplings from Pam's harvestcraft so ya...
