Hi all,

Playing Ftb Infinity. Am currently in early states and am setting up an automated golem wheat or barley culinary generator power system (using agricraft barley - probably move to agricraft wheat for ease of crafting bread).

Thinking about where to aim midgame:
  1. dont want an MFR tree farm, lava pump, IC reactor or big reactor (maybe move to big reactor for endgame?)
  2. would like to stick with an agricultural/magical theme for now or at least something different to standard approaches.
Just been looking at Ender IO hooch, firewater, rocket fuel type generator. This looks like an interesting albeit involved way to go? Maybe get into bees for gunpowder and redstone to automate? I have never really gotten deep into bees before and would like to. Alternatively teleport in buildcraft fuel, maybe generated using solar panels (there some big ocean geysers approx. 1km way)?

Any other suggestions for a more agricultural/magic/alternative power system not including the standard treefarm/coal/steam route? Or suggestions regarding the Ender IO power system?

How about Toast into the Culinary Generator?

Cool - will look into it.

I know I said no tree farm. I did however think about forestry trees. Its more avoid MFR for trees as it is so..well..simple. Is it walnut that adds oil?

Agricraft crops into MFR BioFuel into Liquid Fueled Fireboxes (RC Boilers) into BR Turbine. With Agricraft Sprinklers and 10/10/10 crops, you'll be swimming in BioFuel. One BioFuel Generator can keep up with 7 BioReactors for early RF until the rest of the infrastructure can be completed.

Thanks for suggestions.

Potion power is definately different! I am very keen on the biofuel fireboxes though. I have set up a solid fueled boiler system before with a Steve's cart tree farm but I recall I needed sooooo many trees and carts and "stuff n things" for a full sized boiler (was in monster). I do really like the idea of boilers. I have watched way to many lets plays where they get either lava or a mfr tree farm that i feel like I have built these things over and over but I was a little bit sad I would not be using railcraft so lnaeo's option sounds great!

Will wack in a chestnut forestry tree farm as well because I find the forestry farms really appealling.

I'm currently going with Zombie Generators. Got a 9x9 netherwart farm currently tended by MFR, and I'm using zombie flesh for the other reagent. I'm getting all I need from a cursed earth mobfarm, but you might need to do a powered spawner with a zombie depending on whether you got lucky and found a division sigil or you're able to fight The Wither (since they drop one guaranteed)

Up until the beginning of late game on our Infinity server, I was producing an obscene amount of power from only mob farms (assisted at times by a MFR Autospawner). It started out as a 10x15 Cursed Earth farm, but eventually grew into a complex of dedicated spawn rooms providing mob essence (via MFR Grinders); Blaze Rods (three dedicated Blaze spawners); potions, gunpowder, redstone, glowstone, and sticks (via two Witch spawners set on Cursed Earth over a five block fall to the grinding floor); string and spider eyes (cave spider spawners); rotten flesh, armor, and other random goodies (Zombie spawner); bones, bows, and more armor (Skeleton spawner); and random drops from a small 5x5 unspecified farm.

The backbone power grid was Mob Essence and gunpowder in TE Reactant Dynamos (16, augmented for max power output). The Blaze Rods fed five MFR Steam Boilers (feeding a max sized BR Turbine). Redstone was fed into a Magma Crucible then into Heated Redstone Generators. Sticks were sent to outlying bases to be used in Survivalist or Furnace Generators providing basic power to those facilities. Potions were fed into a 8x Potion Generator. Rotten Flesh was fed to a Culinary Generator (I intended to set up the EnderIO system, but didn't feel the need once I got going). Bones were ground into bonemeal and autocrafted into MFR Industrial Fertilizer (with leftover sticks and string) for use in the fields. Those fields produced enough of nine separate crops to become the above mentioned BioFuel to BR Turbine setup.

Never doubt the potential of a solid Cursed Earth mob farm.
