Been trying to complete the Thaumcraft quest thread, but a lot of the recipes don't seem to work. For instance, the Simple Catalyst: on the FTB Wiki, it says I need to use an Alchemy Chemistry Set and put redstone in the bottom two slots, one gunpowder in the left slot, one glowstone dust in the right slot, one sugar in the top slot, and finally a weak blood orb in the blood orb spot in the bottom right corner. In the game when searching it, it says I need to put redstone in the right and left slots, one gunpowder in the bottom right slot, one glowstone in the bottom left slot, one sugar in the top slot, and basically any blood orb in the blood orb slot. I've tried both of these recipes and neither of them give me a simple catalyst. Any suggestions, or is this just a bug I can't fix? :/

It sounds like what you're doing is correct; I don't think the positions of the reagents matter in the process, but there's no harm in arranging them as the game suggests.

Probably a silly question, but did you make sure the blood orb is bound to you, and that your network has Life Essence in it?

It's supposed to be bound to me?! Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat, I had no idea. I tried it this time and the Simple Catalyst recipe worked! Yay! Thank you! :D My life can finally continue lol!

Yep, because it uses your Soul Network to get the LP to power the alchemy - its OK, I did exactly the same thing in the past, which is why I thought that might be it! :)

Its funny how the little details can trip you up; I had a similar one in a different pack with Mariculture and the Crucible Furnace, and I didn't realise that there was a difference between using charcoal and coal as an additional fuel (I didn't know that charcoal only takes it up to 1600°C whereas coal lets it get up to 2000°C) so I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out why my rutile ore wasn't melting!

Anyway, tangent aside, I'm glad I could help! Enjoy, I really liked Agrarian Skies as a modpack :D
