Not sure I will manage to describe this properly, but I'll try.

So, Hell's Kitchen. 10k of this, 10k of that and 10k of the other - something which obviously will not be from manual labour! I have autonomous activators, and more bones that I know what to do with in a lifetime - so it seemed pretty simple.

Except, that it's not working right. I admit that I never used activators before playing AS, but it's thermal expansion, so isn't exactly rocket science! Every setup I'm trying is derping up in some way, and it's getting irritating. I don't know if it's a bug, or working as intended; so someone might give me a couple of ideas.

The basic is always, the same. Patched of hoe'd up dirt, water within 4-block distance, and activator in front of it. Lettuce seeds are being used for this experiment.

Problem 1: Whenever a lettuce head is harvested, I can see a very quick image of a lettuce head flying my way from the activator, wherever I run to on the map, and I hear a "pop" as if I picked it up, but obviously nothing happens in my inventory as I'm at least a 50 blocks away.

Problem 2: If I pack the activator with bonemeal (and leave no space in its inventory to pick the lettuce up), what is it supposed to do with it? My logic would say, drop the item next to it (therefore I put a vacuum hopper above the activator), but it ain't working. I can see it apply bonemeal, the lettuce grows, and it gets harvested, but it just disappears. It doesn't drop, and obviously the activator doesn't have it, as its inventory is full of bonemeal.

HALP?

Tartarus.. I mean at work. Same thing really.
#1 - I get the same visual glitch using it on the casting basin. Items should drop into the activator if theres space.
#2 - Item might of been stucked into inventory metaspace; take bonemeal out and see if it appears in there.

@Slowking- depends if MFR works with pams' stuff.

Im preeeeeety sure the book would not say to use MFR if it was not compatible...

Switched to MFR and it's working ... kinda.

It derps up in epic ways with chunk loaders.

I build my entire base to fit within a 160block x 160block square. That ensures that, even when I am in a far corner of it, the whole thing is still implicitly loaded.

My base is within my loaded-while-online limits too.

It's to grind cabbages while offline that I have a chunk loader for :p

Did you set the activator to work downwards? (One of the buttons in the interface. Same as if you would have an activator a block above and to the side of a sieve.) Then it should bone meal the patch of land in front of it and you could pick the items up using a Vacuum Hopper.
