AE2 Patterns that can be made from multiple items?

I started up my molecular assemblers and i'm making myself various patterns. When something can be made from multiple things do you guys just make multiple patterns or pick one and go with it? Like sticks, almost all wood turns to planks and then all those turn to sticks. Pistons is a good example. If the pattern tells it grab oak wood it wont use spruce, correct? This is my first time messing with AE2 to this extent.

it should check the oredict so a piston for example it should use any wood planks it can find sometimes this can be problematic with things like greatwood/silverwood planks getting used in crafts

Not sure if this is a thing in AE2.

I got so used to it not being in AE1 that I just use whichever wood type is most prevalent near my base or anything I happen to be farming.

If I recall things correctly, the crafting terminals are fuzzy, i.e. they will, for instance, use spruce and oak wood interchangeably with no particular priority. Crafting patterns used in interfaces are precise by default, but you may be able to override that by putting a fuzzy card into the interface. If you achieve fuzziness, however, I suggest removing silverwood and greatwook from your AE system, since it will happily use that to craft regular wooden items. Accidental fuzziness made me lose two stacks of silverwood to an overflow trashcan once.
