All you folks - and I include myself in that - who criticized XyCraft for the rendering lag caused by quartz: how surprising is it when I say that AE Quartz has exactly the same problem? That's right - Certus Quartz does not count as a solid block for rendering purposes. All 6 adjacent blocks are loaded into the rendering engine, and if you use an X-ray hack such as the redstone block fence trick, you can see all AE quartz rendered as though it were an air block.

Honestly I've had my suspicions since I first saw it slightly glowing in the dark yet emitting no light.
I guess the main benefit compared to XyCraft Quartz is the lack of light from them. Which caused lighting updates any time one was nearby(and they spawned in massive amounts).

All I know is Xycraft quartz is hurty when you're near it and if blocks drop on it they get destroyed.
AE Quartz doesn't have that issue and is used in more than just a single machine block.

Also, Xycraft-who?

Bright textures don't mean that they are transparent for rendering purposes. Xychorium had a bright texture that looked lit up but emitted no light, as does Thaumcraft ore, but they don't cause adjecent blocks to load into the renderer. I really have no idea why Certus Quartz behaves in this way.

Yup, awesome to know that it'll be fixed in the new version (plus all the other awesome additions...can't wait for AE2).

One way windows are easy to make with Mariculture, honestly. And a hell of a lot less dangerous then using unstable ingots to do so.
I blew myself up just making an axe. I think I might write myself an AutoIt script to do my Unstable Ingot crafting for me.
Sounds like maybe you should make stable ones. Either via nuggets or with a pseudo-inversion sigil.

Too OP needs a nerf. Looks cool though, have you played with that before?
I fully automated a couple of Plants vs Zombies levels to run in an infinite loop. I occasionally use a tiny script that just toggles the "left mouse ckick" state when I'm branch mining so I don't need to hold down the mouse button for long periods.
