So Applied Energistics is quickly becoming my favorite mod.. The automation is crazy and makes Minecraft feel really futuristic.

However I have couple of improvement I think would spice it up even more.

First is I think the crafting monitor should be a monitor you can actually look at and not a GUI. I think it is pretty cool seeing everything being made on a screen (with maybe connected textures) you could make the screen bigger and see everything that is being made.

Second its own machines. I mean its clever that the ME interface can interact (kinda) with the other mods machines but if it had some of its own that could do similar things but more complicated that what it already offers, I believe it would make the mod even better.. However do we really need anymore machines in FTB, probably not o_O

What do you guys think?

Would be cool, yes, but you're asking for a lot of custom rendering. Client rendering in Minecraft is not easy by any stretch.

Good idea and good feature request, just not easy.

Yeah this was an idea coming from the fact I do not know programming or rendering or how it all works back-end, but I see that Computer Craft and Necular Control does something similar

Yeah it's too complicated and not very necessary imo.
As for its own machines, no just no, we got enough machines as it is and that's a slippery road from there to its own energy system :p.

Oh its not necessary but would be cool

and yeah I know far too many machines, as for the power I would expect it to just add ticks to the controller instead of having its own power

I wonder if it's possible to build an actual crafting monitor using openPeriphals and Computercraft Monitors... Would be an interesting bit of code.

I like your idea for a multiblock crafting monitor, although it might cause massive framerate drops client-side.
The part with its own machines...I disagree. AE interacts so well with other mods, it doesn't need any machines.

There is no such thing as enough machines. Just because you have enough machines don't assume the rest of us do.

As far as the original post goes there is an easy solution for seeing things get crafted that doesn't require any work on the part of the modders. Craft it yourself. :) Just say no to the molecular assembly chamber now and then.
