Hello all.

I've just sarted thinking about a storage system for my DireWolf20 1.6.4 pack. I want to keep chests and Barrels instead of on drives. I know how to use a storage bus, I'll be using them. Now for Barrels they're really easy to set up. The problem I'm going to have is that there are a lot of mods and I just want to dump all my crap into the sorting system and not have to worry about having to add each individual item to each mod chest.

If that's not clear

I want one chest for each mod
I want to dump everthing in my system and have mod specific items go to those chests
I want to do this WITHOUT having to add NEW mod specific items TO the Storage Bus

Kida like how the Mod itemsink module works in Logistics pipes.

AE doesn't add anything like that, you have to configure busses manually.

But why not use the logistics pipe module. Your AE system can see your Logistics pipe network if you want it too.

Somewhere over the rainbow.
Yup, Logistic Pipes see the AE network and its really nice, but its a total mess once you had any autocrafting system from AE, your autocrafting page on the terminal is filled up with crap from logistic pipes...

ExtraUtilites 1.0+ has mod specific filter pipe, direwolf20 has a LP episode talked about it

How well does extrautilities interact with AE?

I'm think I'll just have to do it manually. I can add a low priority chest, where everything that doesn't have a place can go, then just add that into the config for the storage bussess. Pain really.

The only reason I'm using AE is because it's something I haven't REALLY used before... I've done sorting and crafting systems with RP, Logistics pipes (Which is really messy with craft, so many resipies, but very diverse) EU doesn't really appeal to me, but AE does. Planning on using Item ducts with the AE system.

Cheers for your help guys :)

Out of curiosity, why do you want physical chests instead of virtual ones (drives)? Is it because the drives are expensive and a PITA to make (which I totally get), or is there a functional/aesthetic reason? Once you delve into AE, all those chests start to look like so much extra clutter, at least to me.

For me it would be that a room full of chests looks so much better then a disk drive and a access terminal

I'll trade any amount of chest+barrel aesthetics for the convenience of an AE sysetm. :D

Also you get the choice of accessing items from both your terminal and your chests. You have more points of entry for items into your AE network too. For example, you can use a router or pipes to fill all your chests/barrels/whatever that is connected to your network via storage bus or Logistics pipes provider pipes and you don't need to spend power importing stuff into your network.

Having said that I have never tested if disks are more or less expensive than busses powerwise. The decision really just comes down to player preferences and aesthetic style.

I would love to do a room, full of upgraded JABBA barrels, storage buses attached to them. So I can see how much stuffs I have without having to access the terminal. Except for stuffs that aren't in great quantities, those can stay in the drives.

Storage monitors have a mode that make them act like barrels. A room full of those might get pretty expensive for power though.

Yeah, power hungry for sure. But you're right, there is the option. Somehow it eluded my mind. :/

Purely Aesthetic. I'm also pretty early in, so I don't have the resources to make enough drives. I used all my Iron to make the AE system I currently have.
