Really? I know I'll get hammered for this but I think it's appropriate. Does everything have to get gregteched? This is just silly.

I reached a point in game where I thought it might be fun to revisit the old days and build some IC2, like a whole IC2 building. Since Ultimate Hybrids are the top of the food chain in power naturally that is where I start looking at recipes to make sure I've got the resources. Since I've run quarry in nether I'm pretty sure I'm good on AS iridium and start planning to make stacks of hammers and clippers. Then I see it. The panel that requires IC2 Iridium. I mean wtf over? AS created their own iridium block to allow building their panels without the whole mindbreaking task of creating the monster that is now liquid UU (where are my cute little pink UU jelly beans?). Will my game crash if I try to remove that from the recipe in the configs? I think that's a reasonable question. I find it hard to believe AS added this to their recipes since they created their own block for the specific purpose of negating the need for IC2 iridium. Which as we all know cannot be converted to IC2 iridium. So where did this come from, and who thinks its reasonable to require two metals with the exact same name but from two different mods.

Oh, right. Derp. xD Kept thinking of Compact Solars for some reason.

And, yeah. That sounds really silly and immersion-breaking to have two forms of the same metal not be equivalent. >.>

Advanced Solars doesn't generate iridium. You can use the Molecular Transformer to turn an iron ingot into an iridium ore (the IC2 one, that can be turned into the AS one BTW), but that's the only iridium method it adds.

Oh, and it's been this way for about 2-3 years now.

If you really don't like it, there is a config option to turn on the old recipes.

Aren't there other types of generators available in IC2? The very reason solars have been perpetually nerfed is because people keep mindlessly gravitating to them at expence of other EU generation.

Now that IS interesting. Is it comically expensive as the UU-matter method of making iridium?

It takes 9 million EU. Whether that counts as comically expensive or not I guess is down to you.

Certainly cheaper than making 120mB of UU matter plus whatever energy cost from the replicator itself (not even counting the cost of the recyclers making scrapboxes).

Result :D

The cost of making scrap is nothing relative to the energy saved when making UU matter. Not to mention how right now the replicator doesn't use any EU.
