Adult-Only FTB Server?

I've been knocking around the idea of starting a Minecraft Dad/Mom FTB server that would cater to providing a fun FTB escape from the kids. I'm thinking this server would cater to players 25+ and be donation-based, but am open to hearing all ideas.

I'd love to hear from those interested in something like this.

I might be interested in something like that. I'm 28 and have been looking for a small mature server for a while now. Also note i play with the DW20 but i usually update the mods as they are released myself. So updating regulary would be a must for me.

25+? Sometimes we start a little earlier than that good sir. I'm 22 with a 2 year old boy who thinks he's a tiny tornado..

Hi Carlfm, sounds like a nice idea to me. I am a stay at home dad of 36 to 4 little ones. Escaping from the kids with some FTB server play might be what I need. What pack are thing of putting on the server?

I'm familiar with both modpacks and just off the top of my head the only difference is the Gregtech and Petro mods. I'm open to the modpack choice and love to keep the releases as current as we can. I wonder at this point whether another mod is introduced that requires a complete world regeneration, but we can cross that stream when we get to it. I also like the idea of a small server.

I wouldn't ask anyone to donate to an unseen server. I've anticipated covering the server cost for the year and seeing where it goes from there. Should there be a desire to build the community or if the community gains traction and we decide to continue.. I think a minimal donation is not a lot to ask. It wouldn't be my intention to sell or unlock special access like some do. Let's say the server is $20 per month and we have 20 members.. than everyone chips in a $12/yr.

More than happy to have you! It's really not about the players age.. it's more about where they are in life. I picked 25+ only because I consider myself an old fart by Minecraft standards. I'm 48 and have a 9yo daughter who's keeps me younger than my years despite my protests.

Hi! Thanks for the reply. As I mentioned in an earlier reply. I'm open to DW20 or the Mindcrack pack. I think it really depends. The higher difficulty of the machines by GregTech require a community willing to work together and pool resources similar to the Mindcrack guys. Working together as a server community is cool because I believe it builds a stronger relationships and allows everyone an opportunity to learn new things from the rest of the community. So, feel free to offer some feedback and tell me what you think!

I'm more of a direwolf kind of guy. I like things nice and simple and while gregtech adds some nice toys it can be a bit much for me.

Well if your really serious about this pm me with the details and we'll talk. Also $20/ month, thats peanuts and should not be any problem for us mature players. Assuming everyone has jobs and all.

While Gregtech can be a pain, that is also the upside to the mod. Well that how I see it anyways. I personally enjoy the struggle and the feeling of accomplishment that comes with Gregtech. Say your favorite sports team is a middle of the road kind of team. You play the worst team and beat the crap out of them. You win but whatever. Play the undefeated juggernaut team and win by a point. That feels much better. Anyhow that’s my pro Gregtech speech. I think that you can also configure it to be less punishing or have a middle ground. So that is an idea.

I have not been playing Minecraft long and a modded Minecraft even less. One thing that I learned about playing in a modded game is things change. So I don’t get too attached to things in the game. You can always rebuild and most time do a better job at it the next go around. So I will not be all upset when or if the map need to be reset. Who know what the ultimate pack holds?

Anyhow it’s late and I am tired. Hope this post makes some kind of sense. Oh and one last thing. I like how your thinking about the community.

Good luck on paying that little. We have a dedicated machine and we still run into lag. You'd have to keep it very small.

lol sorry for being so vage, what I meant was that you are welcome to come on mine, most of the people are very mature,I have a strict age limit on my server, the main reason I had set it up was to have people come on and build and such but now its grown to where I am going to try and keep this server as long as I can make charity streams on twitch and such.
