Accessing programs

I have a mining turtle. I want to edit his built-in excavate command, but whenever i type

edit excavate

it comes up as a whole new program named "excavate". Is there a way I can access his built-in coding?

Try "edit /rom/programs/excavate" without the quotes.

I tried this and it just came up with a new program named /rom/programs/excavate

Dont think so. These small programs are not stored on the turtle as such I think, but rather something directly built into the "OS".

The default programs cannot be edited ingame. It is not advised to edit them at all anyways.

I see. It's obvious why it isn't on the turtle. Because it would be easier to transfer from one computer to another. I don't know how to program java, but it seems like a whole lot less work than programing it to go straight onto the turtle, in coding and all.
