Original Post
As the title suggests, I am NOT asking for a release date. However, could we possibly be kept in the loop as far as progress?

There is a LOT of tension in the community about the release of the new launcher and packs, and instead of adding to that tension by keeping to our "Ban or threaten if you ask for a release date" sanction (Which is honestly understandable), maybe we could alleviate that a little by keeping everybody updated about what it is we are waiting on, whats going on in general, or just a "Hey guys, we are still here".

By no means am I trying to start anything, and I am really sorry if any of the mods get irritated by it, but a little communication to the anxious fan-base would help lift a few moods...

Thank in Advance, one way or another

If you took a look for it, there was a response in a similar thread just a few days ago.

Why isn't that update on the news page here on the forum?
Possibly because it's not an actual update? It's just reiterating what's been said before, and just a "don't worry guys, we're still here, and know you are too".

I'm talking about this: http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1rsbiqp

It sure qualifies as an update in my book.
Well, not really, the key points are:
- Progress is happening. Just doing some bug squashing.
- There'll be new Magic World, Tech World and Unleashed/Ultimate packs.
- There'll be a lite pack.
- The configs will work across packs.
- 1.5 worlds won't be supported.

None of that seems like news to me, and it's not really definite "look at this" stuff. For an announcement, it'd be better to wait until there is actually something to show.

Given that it was posted by Jadedcat on 26 Nov and started with "Update about FTB packs." , I think it's more than worthy of appearing on the news page (which has been void of mod pack news for months).

The news page has been quiet for a while, mainly because the packs have been on hold while waiting for the launcher and updates. This hasn't actually changed. They're still waiting for a release-ready launcher, and still configuring the updates. From what I've seen of the news page, the team prefer to post "look, this thing is released", and leave the "this thing is going to be released, here's some progress" for the social media/forum side of things, leaving the teasing of progress left to people who want to see it, and actual progress as a full announcement.

If you look back through the news page, it is all either requests for help, notifications that stuff is available, or news that an event has happened/is happening. If you keep an eye on the team, the other info is available, but only "publicly" announcing things that are actually available keeps the pestering down.

I honestly think its better to hear that we are getting somewhere than as silent as its been on the forums... And the news released has not necessarily been advertised.

Either way, this is going to make a few people on my server a bit calmer about the situation, and we knew from the beginning that the Unleashed/Unhinged worlds wouldn't be compatible with the 1.6 packs. (At least most of us, i guess)

Edit: Thanks, VikeStep, for the link, by the way

Updated the Thread Title to draw attention to get the word out for people blundering around as i did... I'd Like to make this thread to consolidate information for people. Hopefully the more threads that point people where they need to go will cut down on unnecessary threads and questions.

As Jaded stated in previous threads, there are several twitter accounts that release updates on everything.

the best one to check out is here: https://twitter.com/FTBSupportTeam

they try to give daily updates, and should help at least quell a few anxious crafters.

From this point, I will be updating the original post so that people can go and see the news for themselves. Any more information is welcome

I hope one of the "super secret" packs is Unhinged 2 or at least very close in theme to it. I'm looking forward to putting my friends through GT's new Bronze Age.

JadedCat said:
ll the packs will be using the Universal configs. This means if you use the lightweight pack you can add mods from the other packs without worrying about id conflicts. You'll be able to mix and match all the packs however you want. The universal configs include many mods that are popular even if they are not included in an official pack

ooh god
