I am wondering if anyone has any tips for how to have taint in the world, in a controlled fashion?

I have experimented with 'rooms' of taint.
it appears that fibrous taint cannot travel through glass.
So a glass sphere appears to block its spread.
(The color change of the land still happens, but no toxic effects.)

Just wondering how much effort would be required to create a tainted valley- that cannot spread too far.
Eg: Mountains around the taint, with blooms and silverwood trees blocking it from getting out.
PS : My server is a roleplaying friendly world- So I would like to have some 'dangerous' areas in the server.

on thaumcraft 4: very easy
on thaumcraft 5: very difficult

btw: the blooms work underground, so you can hide the barrier and pretend the valley contains it :D

Assuming that this is Thaumcraft 4's version of taint, the easiest way to get a controlled blob of taint would be on an island.

On land, especially in a valley, on a long enough time line, taint is going to cause problems.

Fibrous taint spreads the tainted lands biome by growing onto nearby solid blocks. It does not spread onto glass, fences, tilled soil, torches, stairs etc. However, it CAN jump vertically up to 2 or 3 blocks.

If fibrous taint covers at least 3 sides of a dirt, or wood, block, the block will be converted into Tainted Dirt or Crusted Taint - which is basically fibrous taint in block form as they will spawn fibrous taint onto nearby eligible surfaced. The tainted dirt form can allow taint to spread - to a limited degree - under surface based obstacles.

Now, the fibrous taint is the fun stuff that causes the negative effects and weired tainted growths and so on, So I presume that a tainted lands biome as a valley is not what you are seeking.

Fibrous taint spreads very very slowly, but still, has a good chance of escaping any valley you construct for it, unless you are willing to effectively fence the entire thing with non solid blocks, and ensure there are no dirt seams that go under the fence that can be subverted by the taint spreading as tainted dirt.
