A question about endermen (Direwolf20 1.6.4)

I'm a little new here on the forums, so I apologise if I've made this post in the wrong place.
Anyway, the question I wanted to ask is whether there is any mod which could possibly be messing with the spawn rate of endermen.
I swear I go out every night and fly around as a bat (I don't feel good about it), and then stay in one place for a while, walk around a lot etc. and I have only found 3 endermen from about 20 minecraft nights, and as luck would have it, none dropped any pearls.
It's really annoying because I want to start actually using some of the cooler mods like extra utilities and it would be nice to have some ender chests, but is there anything that could make the spawn rate a sensible amount?
(I should probably mention I'm on normal difficulty but that shouldn't make a difference, right?)

Enderman tend to be rare and when they do spawn, its often in groups of two or three.

Always feel down on my luck when starting out - you have to work for those ender pearls. I find the more you light up your caves under your base, the more will spawn on the surface at night - so give it some time.

Yeah, it just almost feels like they're not even there, never mind spawning in groups of 2 or 3. Can't wait until my ender lilies finally grow.

I often find it easier to search for endermen in either a desert or plains biome, as they're quite flat and it's easier to look around, optifine zoom also helps alot often

Yeah that's kinda what I've been doing, but I'll definitely give that trap a try

You could also raid dungeon chests for ender lillies, or look for end pages in mystcraft.

I did ask the mystcraft dev group on mod added fluids be prepared for unstable worlds but other than that... nothing harmful probably

I came across a biome that looks like it has a high endermen spawn rate. Can't remember what it was, think it was Omimous somthing.. I do remember getting a deep black fog when in there as well and a nasty looking black grass.

Try exploring diffrent biomes and see ^^

Try saving up your ender pearls when you do get them so that you can go to the end and have unlimited ender pearls!!

or make a mob farm once you have the sigil from extra utilities... tainted earth is a compact mob farm and can spawn pretty much all aggressive mobs at a very alarming rate and no need for chuck loading if the info is correct

Yeah for whatever reason the spawn rate's fine now, don't know if it was the update that fixed it or anything, but I'll definitely make a mob farm in the end once I'm there!
