Please post the console log in debug mode and your error log to pastebin.com and link it here. This guide will help you get them.
You could also try checking and posting in the error thread for the new packs. I do not know which pack you have so I cannot link to the specific one, but they are all in the Mod Pack Bugs forum.
Edit: Just realized what you meant by 8.3.1 I was thinking that was the version of chicken chunks. Here is the link to the Mindcrack error thread.
