You could've used a ender thermal pump then just mined the stone to the bottom of the lava lake.

How fast would the pump have drained the lava? Never really played around with the ender thermal pump before.

It goes pretty quickly as long as there's somewhere for the lava to go.

Fairly quickly as long as you have a place to put the lava or are voiding it. It is best to power it with magmatic dynamos so it powers itself.

That'd be pretty sweet. Know anything that can fill a space with a liquid quickly? I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to program a turtle to do it but machines are more fun.

Something fairly simple i thought of just a 3x1x1 (or as big as you want) trench with the flood gate filling it with lava, put ME transition planes on the sides of the lava and the instant it turns into obsidian it will be put in your system. the firestone will just go down the line sucking up lava.
