So, since now 1.6 packs are coming out (and are here to stay as long as, if not longer, 1.2.5 packs) I was thinking what mod (or combination of mods) is the best rp2 replacement (that also works with fmp and excludes the useless bluetricity)? I know that there is project red, immibis redstone mod, redstone in motion, redlogic, truss mod, numrp mod and a bunch of other mods I forgot the name.

Which one is the best? More complete? Most balanced?

I don't think there is one mod that replicates every aspect of redpower and I don't think any mod developers plan on doing that. Frames can be replaced with MFFSC and redstone with MFR (there are others but these are in FTB already). By tools do you mean gem tools?

yes, gem tools, spawned in the world and very useful mid tier.

Project:Red has most of the previous RP2 functionality as an almost exact copy. (Minus frames, tubes and Bluetricity stuff)

- wires and cables
- logic blocks
- Micro Blocks
- lighting (all the different RP2 lamp types)
- WorldGen (basalt volcanoes, marble caves, gems/now included in ore dictionary)
- Tools (including sickle, using the P:Red gems)

And it's Forge Multiblock compatible.

I'm using INpure from Donoflions as a gem replacement. The gem clusters make tools, weapons and armours just like the RP gems.

For redstone gates, wire, lights, marble, basalt and volcanoes Project Red seems to have added all that back.

For frames, Redstone in Motion is supposed to be the bee's knees.. even better than RP frames.

The only bits left are the Deployer and the Block Breaker. Those are both covered in the Open Blocks mod

Anything left out?

Seems to be missing mods with frames, redstone gates/wire and tools.
Frames: Redstone in Motion. Nice and cheap, very well-working.
Gates/wires: Immibis RedLogic. All the gates and wires, and he's working on FORTH computers. It also contains Integrated Circuits.[DOUBLEPOST=1386345332][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, InfiniTubes covers most of the tubing system.

Also, InfiniTubes covers most of the tubing system.

Extra Utilities has item transport built in and allows to make a sorting system using limited resources.

TE3's item transport is usable early on, is very powerful with filters built in directly into the tubes and it can be upgraded for higher speed etc.

Mekanism's item pipes look great, it even includes RP2's coloring system.

EnderIO just added Item Conduits. And this mod became so fantastic in such a short time, I'm sure CrazyPants will extend the functionality in no time to make it another alternative for transporting and sorting stuff.

I like InfiniTubes and TE the best, I'd say.

Tubes mod is nice and FMP compatible. They have similar functionality to rp2 tubes + a few extra things. You can also put the tubes and project red red alloy wire in the same block thanks to forge multipart

I must be one of the only ones who actually liked blutricity
Pretty much, it was a set and forget power system that only interacted with one mod. Once you had your frame quarry and tube system working you never had to think about it again.

So basically te3 for the piping, fmp for microblocks, redstone in motion for frames (or mffsc) and project red for the rest... Seems like quite a good deal to me!

I know what I'm going to add to my 1.6.4 packs if ftb doesn't have them by default.

The problem with the 'frame replacement' mods is that they either have very cheap recipes and require no power, or have weird HD textures that don't look at all like frames.

MFFS requires power and I think RIM is adding optional power consumption eventually.
