If you toss a lot of quartz on a TiC arrow, it can do plenty of damage as a projectile. Alternatively, MPS has some nice (but expensive) projectile weapons.InstaKill. Kinda. On pigs.
5.5 hearts., making it arguably the best projectile weapon.
It passes through mobs, and destroys blocks afterwards. but won't damage other mobs, strangely.

I should also note that it applies like Knockback I to the southeast direction.
Railgun, surely you kill the target, but then you'll explode.
I'm looking more towards using the ethereal glass from Extra Utilities.

You can use your Axe of the stream on it but be smart about it. Don't try to get it all at once and don't start at the bottom. Cut it down in segments.
TiC Lumber axes sort of work on them too. if you climb up to where the canopy starts you can cut down the branches like they where normal trees.
Better set up six barrels too 2 for bark, 3 for the wood and 1 for the roots (they go down like 6-8 deep). or upgrade to extra dimensional.
They are the Minecraft lumberjack's man level challenge. Even with our new wood cutting toys they take a while.

Ive found harvesters to be quite effective if A) You can supply the power B) You move it up when it finishes chopping an area and C) You have somewhere for all that wood to go.
