I have a very elusive lag issue I can't seem to debug. Server runs relatively smoothly, except when 2 players get within about 2 blocks of each other, or run through/clip other players character models. about 90% of the time this causes the entire server to hang up. We actually have less lag when we're spread out and loading more chunks/dimensions then when we're in the same area!
Originally we were playing FTB presents crackpack for 1.7.10 and running very smoothly (hosted on an independent 2nd machine at a players house) almost never any lag. Then a few days ago we customized it by adding some mods and removing some, and after removing some conflicts/biome IDs/mob AI issues, etc it started up great. We pre-generated in a thousand chunk radius. After a lot of mod pruning and config tweaking (and removing a roguelike dungeon's spawners beneath our feet) I've narrowed the lag down to this weird issue. Often if 2 players are near each other constantly like this, the lag seems to sort itself out, but sometimes it stays constantly happening until they give themselves a 4+ block distance again.
Here is a list of the mods we're using (Astrics are mods that were added) Lag issues don't seem to come from anything major a player built from the new mods (no archimedes ships, no player use of AM2, etc)
Used Opis to track down other lag issues and resolve them, but when this nearby player lag happens (causes entire server to lag for every player) Opis hangs as well, if that's helpful. Lag can be from just 2-3 seconds to up to a minute.
Any help on what mods/mod interactions could cause this, or perhaps server settings or configs, or even if you're sure its a network issue, would be simply amazing. Been hitting my head on a wall for days on this, we're all getting very frustrated
