I'm back!

This time playing Agrarian Skies 2(finally).

My Infinity world just got too big for it's boots and had to be retired. I tried an Infinity Evolved Skyblock world but it was too slow and rigid(do this, then do that) for my tastes. 1.7.10 is too young for a settled world.

I wanted to do a skyblock as I'd never done one properly before so that left AS2.

Running on a Creeperhost Zombie server, much nicer now I have a proper internet connection!

Some stray observations:

Jaded seems to have given up on this pack really early, not nearly as in depth as AS1 and the quests just feel rushed. "For the Hoarding" is particularly disappointing.
It's about 1000 times easier than AS1.
Reward bags are just daft.
The Curse client updating every 2 days and then losing my token requiring a re-log is driving me mad.

Pics will be up later today, I'm very well set up already but it's hardy the Taj Mahal...

At least it's not mortally embarrassing which is was until this point.

As always, images inside the spoilers.

Overview of the platform, lots and lots of cobble... I've sort of have a plan how I want it all layed out and I'm keeping it symmetrical but have absolutely no idea what aesthetic I'm going to build. PS: windmills are a waste of time.

fmzcGus.png

Power gen, 30 crucibles with pyrotheum underneath supplying 18 magmatic dynamos each with Level 1 power upgrade and Level 1 efficiency upgrade, the math says this should balance out with a slight surplus of lava but I haven't run it full tilt yet to confirm. Solar panels are Level 3's, level 4 is wasteful due to the wonky stacking.

OFKFylv.jpg

Main resource gen, specifically designed to avoid back-stuffing and clogging. I should be able to max upgrade this and it'll run without a hitch. Producing and sieving soul-sand as well to get nether quartz.

HrxTQA5.png

Storage, bulk items in standard drawers and ingots in compacting. Drawers are much easier to upgrade than barrels, the lower max store number shouldn't be much of an issue, will switch to DSU's if it comes to that. Using 1k cells to store all the random junk you accumulate.

Farms, 2 harvesters for plants, 1 for trees. Fruit picker to do oranges to make smoothies. Sheep and cows bred and ranched in the same pen, pigs there just cos I can. Standard hyper-rotation chicken setup for eggs and feathers. Centre area for mutating plants. Currently have 10/10/10 wheat, 10/10/10 pumpkins(dirt production), potatoes, 10/10/10 carrots, 10/10/10 redstodendron, soy, tomato, lettuce

AE controller setup and processor/crystal production with automated smelteries for gears powered by pyrotheum.

Controller is a 3x3x3 cage with p2p's on all faces except top and bottom. p2p's are then grouped into 4's and kept separate by coloured cables(blue, white, brown as you get the dyes from sifting). Each compass point then gets 3 lines of 4 p2p's to draw from each. Plenty.

Top has energy acceptor and energy cells, bottom leads under the platform to 32 fuzzy export buses on trash cans to dump anything that needs dumping.

Boring old darkroom mob-spawner. Although I did wait until I could build one with the track conveyor things so it's really fast and generates enderman and spiders. Isn't centered though so needs to be moved once I can make a cursed earth spawner.

Equipment front I'm sorted with a manna manna pick-axe, signalum axe and rapier and the raiding hoe from the beginning. Armour wise I've got a few bits of invar armour and a resonant jet-pack.

As for the thread title, well I've survived up to this point with chicken pot pies however I thought it would be fitting to tear down my pie machine and switch to delighted meals just before this first post...

Nice job Scottulus. I take it the problem with the windmills is that you have better infinite power anyway from lava?

I've always been irritated by "delighted" meals. Why are they so happy? They're about to be destroyed.

Perhaps they were supposed to be "delightful" meals, hmm?

Very nice. I tried AS2 and had the same thoughts as you. It's nothing compared to AS1, I gave up with it. Likewise I tried SkyFactory 2. That was ridiculously easy and I couldn't see the "Factory" part of the pack. Messed around with the sieve resource generation then abandoned it as pointless.

My problem with the windmills is the alloy requirements, they're such a pain to make for very little power. Either the solar and magmatic power output should have been nerfed or their recipes made more complicated or the wind been buffed slightly.

Maybe "delighted" is a play on words with "Happy Meal", I dunno, but once you get the market block they become trivial to make and it's awesome only eating twice a play session!

Decided I'm going to use the pork and mutton to fuel culniary generators, may as well put it to some sort of use.

Watching Dire's playthrough and I may have spoken too soon, it seems the tech side of things is very easy, the magic stuff is where the challenge is by the looks of it. I'm not playing it for the quests though, AS2 is the closest thing to a sandbox skyblock I could find and if I resist the urge to fiddle it should keep me going until 1.10 matures

Delighted is a synonym of Happy. It's got a burger, fries, and a shake.

It's also why Thesaurus' have synonym rolls for breakfast

Welcome brother... we've been expecting you. Actually cynicism is kinda why I play minecraft. It reminds me that sometimes you just need to let the negative mojo go and just enjoy things

Update time!

Firstly the afk box I mentioned in the other thread,

I was looking for a cheap way to chunkload and thought why don't I use the cheapest chunkloader ever, myself! This turned out to be quite complicated due to the passive hunger drain. I found an innocous post by jaded on reddit saying, "just inject yourself with the mushroom syringe from MFr to afk" and came up with this, the mechanicals behind it are:

1. A mooshroom, simply right click a cow with ancient spores and voila
2. A rancher, harvests mushroom stew from a cow as a liquid.
3. Liquid transposer fills empty MFR syringes with the stew to make mushroom syringes
4. Autonomous activator injects me giving full hunger and saturation.
5. 2 programmable rednet controllers are used as a timer. First has a square wave on a 2 min wavelength and second as a pulse former so I get injected every 4 min. Could be much much longer but each click on the rednet controller only advances the timer 2sec and I got bored.

Now I had a few disasters with this, first time something spawned somewhere, knocked out all my torches so a hoarde decended and trampled all my crops losing all my 10/10/10 seeds. After much swearing I bred them all back up(keeping spares), put fences around my farms and stuck chandeliers under the platform everywhere. This didn't work... Next time mobs spawned they broke into my glass box and killed me, and because I was afk and asleep I didn;'t notice so all my stuff despawned, including all my max level tinkers tools and uber-crossbow :/

So now I've made the box out of hardened glass and I place all my stuff into a hardened strongbox before I go afk.

Eagle eyed viewers may have noticed a bit in the background of the mooshroom photo. I've done my first floating island, such a pain! I know it's a cliche but it's one of the few things that can work aesthetically in a skyblock map. Still much work to be done.

My blood magic altar is up to Tier 4, bunch of dislocation runes on it so I pump out the altar into the eneder tank and reverse it when doing crafting.

8 witches and a well of suffering supply me all the blood I need.
