They will use about 1 MJ/t each. Most MJ powered machines have a small "standby" cost. You can avoid it with some smart usage of BuildCraft logic gates to control power production.

Well I multimeter'd them, and it said energy request as 0. I am not totally sure what this means. EU is just so much more easy to manage/tweek in terms of system.

The main problem with shut-off via redstone signal, is that (for fermenter)....

2 input AE export, 1 for fertilizer, 1 for saplings
1 input power
1 input water/juice
1 output

I wish conductive piping didn't suck dick.

You should only need 1 export bus if you use a fuzzy or precision one.

If you are talking about Conductive pipes, then those have been scrapped some time ago. Admittedly, Kinesis pipes probably looks like the old pipes, but they don't suck that much dick any more. You might of course still not be happy, but we can't please everyone.

Hmm, might have been changed, though experience tells me different (I'll explain why)....

Bottom input = fertilizer slot, top input = sapling, i.e. side matters. When I shiftclicked two stacks of saplings into the fermenter, a stack when into the fertilizer slot. This is my reasoning for doubt.

More so to combine gate & energy transfer into one block. The reason why they suck is cause of how they interface with RECs. The only solution would be to ONLY have a wooden conductive pipe between the machine and its OWN REC. Have that gate in the wooden pipe set to has no work -> redstone signal.

But this means having a separate REC for every machine, which is a PITA/expensive. I might consider it though, because extra bee's machines are pretty energy intensive...
