Version:
1.5.1
What is the bug:
Error path:
Player is looking at a block. Player is holding a tool not meant to break that block, but can be used to break the block anyway (bare hand to break soil, gravel, or stone, for instance). Player presses and holds left mouse key.
Expected reaction:
Player character will swing tool or empty hand until block ahead of them is broken. If player is using open hand to break stone, nothing will be dropped. If player is using open hand to break grass or gravel, block or item will drop.
Actual reaction:
Player character will swing tool or empty hand once. Block will not react (no mining sound, no cracks will form).
Additional notes:
Thermal Expansion caches are also affected. Normally, you use the left mouse button while looking at the cache to pull one stack of stuff from the cache. This bug, however, prevents this from happening unless the player is holding a pickax. Vanilla buttons and levers are not affected. They can be broken by looking at them and hitting them with an open hand using the left mouse button. Pressure plates are affected, and can only be harvested with a pickax. The common thread is objects that cannot be broken as a result of the bug have an effective tool entry in Waila. If the effective tool entry is red, no attempt will be made to break the block. If effective tool entry is green (cache while holding a pickax) or not present (lever, button, plants), player can break block.
Bug was first noticed after falling out of the world when a concussion creeper teleported the player under the bedrock. Player was unable to extract items from a cache without a pickax in hand.
