The 1.3.4 version just posted in IRC seems to think 1.0.3 is selected when 1.0.4 is actually selected. When you launch, it states this, and you click "No" to downgrade, the launcher becomes unresponsive.
Error in console: Unhandled exception in Thread[AWT-EventQueue-0,6,main]: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/google/gson/TypeAdapterFactory

OS/Java in log:
http://pastebin.com/mspQKZnh
Launcher v1.3.4

Reverting to the 1.3.3, it does not have this problem, and was reporting to notify you guys of a possible error in the drop-down.

Cleaned out FTB --

Options:
[Checked] Show Console, Reopen launcher after exiting minecraft?
Slider to 2.0GB
English
[Advanced Options]
Atlanta
filled in java options for lag prevention
Left window size and position alone
[checked] Auto Maximized? (this setting has not worked in a long time), and Disable Google Analytic Tracking
exit
modpacks tab
Select Monster
Manually Selected 1.0.4
Package downloaded, and then crashed with same error message as OP.

Might actually be an error in the Google tracking selection, if I'm reading the class and guessing right... doing further testing.

Removing that tickbox had no effect, so I googled the error.
First result that comes up, it looks like a library issue:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/...oundexception-com-google-gson-gson-error-even

I'll repeat the cleaning of FtB's local content, I may have missed a spot.

Okay, I did miss a spot. So here, I cleaned everything up, and running the launcher gets me this when I go to the pack selection screen:
http://pastebin.com/mH1NvchA
Closing and re-opening the launcher repeats the same errors.
So now looks even worse. (Thankfully I archived everything beforehand)
Now I'll try and re-download the EXE.

Try deleting the ftblauncher folder from Roaming.. This should clean up the errors from your second log.
Also, uninstall all Java, restart your computer, and reinstall Java x64. This should clean up Java reg errors.

Did that on the second bit -- on 'repeat the cleaning of FtB's local content'
Had already done the java bit. In the logs, there is this, which shows it:
Java vm: Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM version: 24.45-b08 by Oracle Corporation

It happens that 1.3.4 is apparently not even in beta, and the link may have been given to me in error. I don't mind testing things, so I grabbed it and noticed the issues and reported them -- but after talking to some people in IRC it seems tat I had a super early version of the launcher, and there were missing libs, among other things.
