Version:
1.2.0

What is the bug:
AromaBackup, one of the mods included in the Infinity modpack, will absolutely destroy a server's disk space if the included config file is left unaltered.

By default, the config file for AromaBackups is set to create a backup once every 2 hours, and will keep a maximum of 12 backups. This may not sound like a lot, but here is a screenshot of the nasty large disk space this consumes - look at the backup folder:

Yep. 35G. That's a lot. This isn't good, no matter how you host your server.

Mod & Version:

Can it be repeated:
Yes.

Known Fix:
SImple fix - change the config file included in modpack (both client and server versions) to have auto backups DISABLED. Period.

I, like many server owners, use other tools to create backups, which we have learned to rely on and trust because they are tools that we have been using for a while and already have regular backup schedules assigned.

Including a mod like this, in my opinion, is a very poor choice. I was not aware these modpacks would include server administration mods such as AromaBackup. I trust modpack devs to let me decide what administration tools to use to manage my backups and servers, not FTB.

I don't mind that these type of mods are included in modpacks by default because they can help newer hosts, the default config you include with this modpack needs to be set to not do anything. Let the server admins who run these modpacks decide if they want to enable this mod through the config.

If this config remains in the default state, then unknowing server admins could suffer - full disks = corrupted worlds.

You are thinking about real server owners with server tools and all that stuff... Those kind of servers have staff that know what they are doing and know what should and shouldnt be enable! So, if they have a 35Gb backup folder, I got to say they arent the best server admins....

This mod is on the pack(client and server) for the single reason of the non-technical users that still want to make a server to play with a couple of friends. They have no clue about how to setup backups and other special stuff, they just want to extract a zip file and press start!

Still, I would recommend reducing the number of saved backups to something like 5. 12 is a lot.... I only use 2!

It's not a poor choice, an inexperienced server admin will get his backups auto-magically. The "experienced" ones like yourself should go through the configs line by line before opening such a massive server...

Just my 2c.
