Wired Modems are known to crash in version 1.0.3 when attached to Capacitor Banks and Energy Cells. The only way to wrap capacters/energycells as peripherals is with a computer directly next to them.

I've got the same problem, and want to try direwolf20's program from the current Forgecraft Series (see Forgecraft2 S5E24 to S5E26)... Well off I go and try and change to code to connect the monitor with a modem to have the computer next to my cell. :|

Its a bug with openperipherals, but caused by ProjectRed, it packs an old version of the Computercraft API. OpenPeripherals tries to use it instead of the one from Computercraft and boom, crash. To fix this until they release 104, just download the latest ProjectRed jar files from the website and replace the ones in your mods folder in the ftb launcher folder.

Edit: be sure to make a copy of the launcher folder, so you can revert if you made a mistake :)
