What is the bug:
Simple bug. If you're trying to make Extra Utilities Burnt Quartz, you can't do it in a Thermal Expansion Redstone Furnace with regular Blocks of Quartz , even though NEI shows a recipe for it. The Quartz will simply refuse to go in. Smelting the old fashioned way in a Furnace works fine.

Yes.
Known Fix:
One workaround is to craft Blocks of Quartz into Pillar Quartz Blocks first. The Redstone Furnace WILL take these and turn them into Burnt Quartz.
