1.0.1: Can't Open Modpack

What is the bug:
Everytime I open the modpack, it opens another java icon I can't see for about 5 seconds and then it closes and takes me back to the launcher.

I'm guessing you need to upgrade your java installation to at least 1.7, but preferably 1.8. I have no clue how to do that on a mac though.

As the user above suggested update your java because even the 1.6 packs required java 7.
