    Inventory pets changed the dirt screen to 'your pets said goodbye' if i'm not mistaken, so maybe thats possible. But that dirt screen only show up for a couple seconds for me.

    I think he's trying to get people to port to 1.8 So when 1.9 comes out they would have some work done since it is easier to port from 1.8 to 1.9

    He just need to switch it with another biome's id, it shouldn't be that difficult

    Well you can backup your config files, and switching it with another biome's id isn't really that difficult

    I think twilight biomes spawning in the overworld is caused by minecraft considering biomes with id above 128 as a sub biome, changing it to a number below 128 should work

    Is it fine (does not throw of any balance) if i added decorative mods such as carpenters blocks, decocraft, etc?

    Is it going to cause any balance issues if i added carpenter's blocks? There is a recipe for it EDIT : I wasn't able to find any cactus and tainted desert biome is extremely laggy because of the number of crusted taint changing into flux
