This sounds like a pretty cool idea, think I'm going to give it a shot.
Edit:
Ars Magica's mage armor boots have slowfall as a contingency, although there is a cool down period. Up to a certain height slowfall won't trigger, and the boots will simply negate fall damage. That might be tied to...
I could see the plants that produce ink sacs being useful as an alternative to a mfr squidfarm. No more squid hunting for thaumcraft research, ars magica 2 spell writing and mystcraft books.
The issue GPuzzle is referring to is more related to compact solars and the way it went about reducing overhead. Instead of a steady 8 eu/t it produced 32 eu every fourth tick. So if you used two of them, it would put 64 eu down the line at one go. That has more to do with compact solars...
Railcraft's blast furnace has the opposite of the nugget problem. In order to produce enough blocks to build it, you use recipes that always leave you with two blocks extra.
The AT launcher has a few 1.6.4 modpacks. Resonant Rise immedietly comes to mind although it's still in beta so things are being added/removed/broken/fixed on a fairly regular basis.
One small point about heat generators, their output can be increased by surrounding them with lava. To get the most out of a single heat gen, you'll want lava below it, on the three sides the cable isn't connected to, and one on top of it.
I kind of wish there was a little more information available about the different types of nodes. Since taint was reintroduced I'd like to know if there are certain types of nodes that will contribute to taint creation or spread.
Engines *can* explode, but it's easily avoidable since even the most basic gate has the power requested condition. If the power grid is saturated, the engines shut off. Still trying to figure out how to set up the proper conditions to prevent combustion engines from exploding.
Edit Again...
Their output can be bumped up a bit by surrounding them with lava source blocks (one below, one on the same level as the generator in the cardinal directions and one on top. I didn't test the diagonal.)
In unleashed 1.1.4, I'm using a 3x5x4 orchard with about 34 lemon trees to bolster my fruit juice/ mulch production, but it doesn't seem to produce many lemons. I've bred the trees to have the high yield trait active, but that didn't seem to help. Is there a better tree for this or should I be...
With the smeltery it just takes some lava and cobblestone, and then using a chisel on the crafting grid until I hit brick. I'm a little constrained because the texture pack I'm using is currently incomplete.
Are seared bricks from Tinker's Constructs "safe" for a general building material or will they bog the game down by checking to see if it's part of a valid smelter? Or is the smeltery controller the only block that does that check?
You should be able to use slime crystals in the part builder with stencils. Are you using enough slime crystals? The tough tool rod has a material cost of 3, so you'll need three crystals.
