Sounds to me more like TOO MUCH ram allocated. Minecraft sucks with ram (vanilla problem) even though it needs a good 3gig to launch, giving it too much is just like a traffic jam on the highway. Lots of information moving very slowly.

Have you tried completely deleting everything FTB related, restarting your PC and redownloading? The NEI bug seems to be caused by double clicking to enter the gold search mode. Doesn't always happen, but seems to always be the cause. The other issues seem more like a dodgy install
