    Is there a way to replace the player.dat if I did not have a back-up of the world handy? I don't think it could be the chunk, there are no issues for me from what I can tell.

    Unfortunately, we did the steps entailed and to no avail, the problem still ensues.We created a new world, and thus allowed him to join. Baffling. It looks like the world might be bad for him, but we're not sure on a solution.
